Vale Christine Cuthbertson
To Ashburton Baptist Church Community,
It is with sadness that we announce Christine Cuthbertson, a long-standing member of Ashburton Baptist Church passed away unexpectedly on Friday 19 September 2025.
Christine was an engaged and energetic person of deep commitment, whose nearly 25 years at ABC were marked by exceptional service and leadership. She served as a Deacon, chaired a Pastoral Search Committee, coordinated the Music Team, and regularly led Sunday worship.
She brought remarkable kindness and thoughtfulness to every role she embraced.
Christine's ethical foundation shaped how she lived. She consistently asked herself how her actions would affect others, using this principle to guide both her personal choices and professional work. Her background in chemistry led to a career with Smith and Nephew in Asia Pacific, before she established a consulting partnership helping businesses navigate the complex regulations around importing medical equipment and pharmaceuticals into Australia.
Her gift for interpreting regulations and systems became a cornerstone of her service to others. Whether working professionally or helping community members personally, Christine used her skills to benefit those around her.
Her kindness and quiet yet unwavering commitment to the well-being of those around her was a true testament to her character and faith. As was her work in the community, particularly at the local dog club where she served as President.
To Joh, Christine's husband, her two sisters and all those who held her dear, we extend our deepest love and support in this time of loss.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Boyd Chapel, on Friday 3 October at 2.30 pm, followed by refreshments.
All are warmly invited to attend as we gather to remember and give thanks for Christine's life.
Grace and peace.
