Programs for Youth

The Youth Ministry here at Ashburton Baptist recognises the challenges young people face in their teenage years and seeks to help them deal with the pressures they encounter day to day. Our aim is to provide an inspiring and supportive environment in which they can feel free to ask questions as we share life together. Our hope is that our community can be a place in which all young people will find meaningful and lasting friendships, as well as grow both personally and spiritually. .

The ABC Youth program engages youth from grade 6 to year 10 in a fun and open environment. It is held on Friday nights during the school term, as advertised.
Led by a group of young adults, the program involves activities both at the church and off site. Activities in the past have included: mini-golf, gladiator games, mess night and drive-in cinemas. We sometimes share a meal (yes…generally pizza!) and enjoy hanging out and getting to know one another.

Youth Small Groups

Small groups have long been experienced as a vital part of how our church body is sustained and empowered, providing a place of belonging, deepening of relationships, and a safe environment for open and honest discussion. If you are not part of a small group, we’ve got one for you. Each is held during the week on a fortnightly basis in homes of church families.
The nights are relaxed, and welcome honest discussion about God. They emphasise personal formation, discipleship and relationship building.

Sunday Morning Group

Sunday Morning Group is a bible study for youth in year 7 and 8 held during the school term. The group meets each week during the second half of the Sunday morning worship service.
Some mornings involve relaxed discussion about Jesus and what it means to be a follower of Him, while enjoying morning tea together.
As well as this, a few times a year we get out and serve the community in small ways through things such as gardening and maintenance work.
