The Ashburton Baptist Church was established in 1934 as an intentional "outreach" from the Armadale Baptist Church.
Following humble beginnings is experienced a burst of growth in the post War boom aided by the Billy Graham Crusade and culminating in the construction of a purpose built place of worship in 1959.
In general terms ABC has since the sixties had a membership varying between 150 and 200 with a wider Church Community of double those figures.
Major ministry initiative occurred during the early 1990's during the ministry of Rev. Peter Walker which were enhanced by new property development creating a complex of buildings in 1996 reflecting various innovative programs of the church.
